Student accused of threatening Central High has no access to guns: Sheriff

Story By DAVID MELSON  |  Times Gazette

A Shelbyville Central High student accused on social media of threatening to bring a gun to school Friday does not have access to weapons at his home, Sheriff Austin Swing said Thursday night.

“We have been to the student’s home and checked to make sure no guns are available,” Swing said. “We talked to him and his parents.”

Many parents and students have posted fears about attending class Friday on social media.

The student who allegedly made the threat on a social media post has been described as a 15-year-old freshman.

Law enforcement personnel and school authorities will meet at the school early Friday, Swing and Deputy Chief Brian Crews of the Shelbyville Police Department said. Officials said they do not believe anyone is in danger and will continue to stay in contact with the student and his family Friday.
