Once more……with feeling…..PLEASE!!

Good Morning

Well, guess what?  The refugee resettlement INDUSTRY (yes, I said INDUSTRY, this is NOT just some ‘feel good’ thing going on here) is increasing their pressure on the Governor to say ‘yes’ to more refugees in Tennessee, despite what we KNOW, and now they are involving ‘evangelicals’ to do it.

Soros-Linked Group Gets Six GOP Governors to Resettle More Refugees .
This week, the Evangelical Immigration Table sent letters to the governors of California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin to ask them to bring refugees to their states.

Remember, it seems that World Relief was the federal contractor who took the money but dumped refugees in Murfreesboro without providing the necessary services.

The letter to Governor Lee is dated Dec 9  (some of which is a bit misleading) and has about 13 pages of typewritten signatures on it.

A reminder: Tennessee has filed lawsuit against the Federal Government on the basis of the 10th Amendment. We are expecting this important lawsuit, designed to protect State’s Rights, to go to the US Supreme Court.
Tennessee sues feds over refugee resettlement .
Norris says state’s refugee lawsuit is effort to clear the air .

President Trump’s recent Executive Order is giving power back to Tennessee citizens to decide whether they want federal refugee contractors to “transform” their communities with imported refugees.

If Tennessee agrees to more refugees we cannot pick and choose which refugees or from where. In addition, we don’t have a voice in where they are settled.  Contractors can settle them within 50-100 miles from their location. Look at this map – it covers practically the whole state

The federal government has admitted to transferring the costs of the refugee program to the states – the very reason Tennessee has a lawsuit challenging the program. If the Governor consents to refugee resettlement even for just the four counties where the contractor offices are located, the state’s lawsuit goes away and he puts almost every single town, city and county in the state up for grabs.

We want to make sure that the grassroots all across the state make their voices heard by asking the Governor to issue an unqualified ‘no’ to continued refugee resettlement in Tennessee based on the reasons below:

    • Numerous federal reports admit to the federal government transferring millions of dollars in costs for the refugee resettlement program from the federal government to the states regardless of whether a state consents.
    • Tennessee withdrew from the voluntary refugee resettlement program over 10 years ago, yet state dollars continue to be taken by the federal government to fund its program. Absent a direct appropriation by the Tennessee General Assembly this violates the state’s Constitution
    •  State tax dollars must first be used to support Tennessee’s most vulnerable citizens like the estimated 5,000 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who require support services and the almost 8,000 reported homeless Tennesseans which include veterans and families.
    • The U.S. Supreme Court has held that the federal government may not coerce states to administer or to use their limited resources to support federal programs. The refugee resettlement program is an example of extreme federal overreach in violation of Tennessee’s sovereignty which is protected by the Tenth Amendment.
    •  Consenting to resettling refugees under President Trump’s Executive Order and agreeing to have Tennessee pay shifted federal costs, sets a dangerous precedent for using state budgets as the solution to federal funding deficits.

I KNOW that everyone is very busy right now with holiday preparations, but the long term consequences of this decision are dramatic. Will you contact the Governor today and politely ask him to just say “NO”?

Blessings
