Community update on the abandoned truck in the Forked Deer River.

In a press release:

The Jackson Police Department is aware of a green pick-up truck lodged in the Forked Deer River near the South Highland bridge. The vehicle is not related to a crime or missing person. The truck was abandoned in 2019 by it’s owner in adjacent wetlands after becoming stuck. Recent floods washed the truck into the river. The department was made aware of the vehicle’s current location weeks prior, but due to high water and swift currents it was not safe to inspect for removal.

The Jackson Fire Department and Madison County Fire Department examined the vehicle today and determined it cannot be removed by available means. The information has been forwarded to the West Tennessee River Basin Authority.
