Fourth Life Care of Athens resident dies of virus

To date, 71 residents have tested positive for COVID-19, with 27 testing negative, according to Life Care Center of Athens Executive Director Jeffery Ricks.
Three residents are currently hospitalized.
The facility is located in McMinn County. Life Care Centers of America is based in Cleveland.
“We remain in consistent communication with our medical director and local hospitals to ensure our residents are transferred, if more acute care is needed,” Ricks said. “We are also checking in with their families frequently and providing as much support possible.”
Other residents, according to Ricks, are receiving care in the facility’s COVID-19 isolation area.
He said testing has been made available to all associates, with the following results:
• 46 associates have tested positive for COVID-19.
• 13 associates have recovered and meet CDC guidelines for returning to work.
• 80 associates have tested negative for COVID-19.
• Three tests are pending.
Life Care residents who have tested both positive and negative for COVID-19 are checked multiple times per day for symptoms or changes in condition.
Bradley County
In Bradley County, 69 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 since March 20, with 49 recoveries and one death.
As of Saturday, 14,768 individuals have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, increasing 672  from Thursday. The numbers included 242 deaths, up 23 since Thursday, as well as 1,319 hospitalizations and 7,369 recoveries.
The first positive case was confirmed by the Tennessee Department of Health on March 5.
