What does God want from us? Until we know the answer to this question, it will be like working a puzzle in the dark. There is a picture, and there are pieces that go somewhere, but it feels like stuff is just moving around—one trial and error after another.

“This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created.” (Genesis 5:1-2)

In Genesis 5, we see the genealogy of Adam. God created Mankind in His likeness, a man and a woman named Adam and Eve, and they lived in the same direction as God. They were living the way God directed them to live. From the very beginning, God has only wanted the very best from us, and He also wants the best for us.

God wants our very best. God wants the best of our time, talent, and resources. We can give God our best time by reading our Bible and praying every day when we are our freshest. We use our gifts and talents by serving God and others by giving Him the best of our talent. We can give God our best resources by tithing and giving gifts to ministries that help others and by helping other people.

God wants the best from us, and He also wants the best for us. God wants to rule over the sin in our lives, not for us to be ruled by it. He wants us to be the best us we can be.

God gives us what we need to overcome weakness and sin. With God’s power, when we choose to provide Him with our best, He makes us into the best possible version of ourselves.

Is there a part of your life that you are not giving your best to God?
