The case for Trump – Varvel’s Views

WEEK IN REVIEW

My business phone woke me out of a dead sleep early one morning. I instinctively answered. Big mistake. A woman on the other end asked to talk to Gary Varvel. I said, “That’s me.” Then she said, “How can you call yourself a Christian and support Trump?” Her voice was quivering and I could tell that she was either angry or nervous or both. Being shocked awake, my head was in a fog.  I didn’t even think to ask for her name. She pressed me for an answer: “How can I support Trump?” Finally, I said that I can’t support a party or politician that is pro-abortion. She accused me of caring only for the unborn but not caring for them after birth. This is a common talking point of the left. It’s a lie but it’s part of their script. Eventually, she yelled, “How can you sleep at night?” Then she hung up on me. The truth is, I was sleeping pretty soundly until she called. Now that I’m fully awake, let me give some answers to her question.

• Abortion – The Bible says in Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I knew you.” God forms us and knows us when we were in our mother’s womb. God also hates the shedding of innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17). Science verifies the complexity of human life in the womb. And Fetal ultrasound technology clearly shows the form and movements of a human baby. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are for abortion, right up until the moment of birth. This is infanticide and as a Christian I can’t vote for people who want to appoint judges who will continue this evil practice that has killed 62 million babies since 1973. For more information, check out the movie, Unplanned. Biden/Harris want to raise taxes which will cripple the economy more than the pandemic shutdown. They refuse to answer the question about stacking the court which would make it a political wing of the party in power. Biden’s silence means he plans on doing it. Biden says now that he won’t ban ‘fracking.’ But both he and Harris are on video during the primary saying that they would ban it. Biden said he will put Beto O’Rourke in charge of gun control which means the Second Amendment will be in danger. Biden wants free tuition and socialized medicine. How can we pay for that when the government is $26 trillion in debt? Under Biden, marxists groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter will continue their mission of fundamentally transforming America into a socialist/communist nation. Oh, and then there is the issue with Biden’s cognitive concerns. On the other hand, look at Trump’s record:

• Judges – Trump kept his promise in appointing constitutional originalist judges to the federal bench including possibly his 3rd justice to the Supreme Court. I hate to imagine the activist judges Joe Biden would appoint.

• Economy – Trump’s tax cuts and deregulation resulted in the strongest U.S. economy in my lifetime until the covid pandemic shutdown. Thanks, China.

• Israel – Trump moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem. Genesis 12:3 says, “I will bless those who bless you, but I will curse those who curse you. And through you I will bless all the nations.”

• Peace deals – Trump brokered the Abraham Accords peace deal between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain.

Trade deals – Trump negotiated fair trade deals with Canada, Mexico, South Korea, and Japan and has confronted China for their trade abuses.

Military – Trump rebuilt our military, destroyed ISIS which rose to power during the Obama administration and Trump has not started any new wars.

The Wall – Trump is building the wall. Immigration was a big issue in 2016. You don’t hear much about it anymore.

Energy independence – Because of Trump’s actions the U.S. exported more oil than it imported.

Covid – Despite what Biden/Harris say, Trump mobilized businesses to retool to make PPE, he shut down travel from China and Europe and instituted Operation Warp Speed which may produce a vaccine by January. Sure over 200,000 have died. But Dr. Fauci said that if Trump did nothing, over 2 million would die.

Trump accomplished all of this while being attacked daily by the democrat politicians, the FBI, never-Trumpers and the democrat media. Gov. Mike Huckabee said, “Donald Trump is kind of like a doctor who sometimes has a rather gruff bedside manner…But by golly he’s keeping the patient alive.” I wholeheartedly agree. I’m not voting for a pastor, I’m voting for a president who will do what Trump has done.

1 Timothy 2:2 tells us to pray for our leaders so that we might live quiet and peaceable lives. I believe God also expects His people who follow him to vote for policies that honor Him. So mam, if you are listening; as a Christian, this is why I will vote for Trump again.
