BE STRONG IN THE LORD

When facing the uncertainties of life, we feel forced to look out for ourselves for security. We worry about accumulating resources.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)

These are reasons to remember what Jesus taught us about the temporary nature of things in this world, encouraging us to store our treasures in heaven, where moths and rust can not destroy it, and thieves can steal it.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” (Matthew 6:19-20)

The Bible reminds us that the world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. Instead, we need to look to God for our security.

“For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.” (Proverbs 3:26)

God told Jeremiah that cursed are those people who put their trust in themselves and turn their hearts away from God. Blessed are those who trust in God and have made God their hope, security, and confidence.

“Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.” (Jeremiah 17:5-7)

Everything in our lives is different when we are strong in the Lord. When we depend on God, we can draw from His resources. We get stronger every day because God has no limits.

Today, think about the people and things on which we are depending. The Bible reminds us of all the reasons we need to trust in God. Other people may fail us, but God always is faithful.

As we set our minds on seeking God, the Bible promises that God will give us happiness and direct our paths. God gives us the strength to face our challenges and overcome them. All we have to do is make sure that we are strong in Him.

Are you looking to your investments? Your job or abilities? Do you depend on the government or economy? Or other people For your security?

“Heavenly Father, I will not lay up for myself treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but I will lay up for myself treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
