Rand Paul goes off on Dems’ impeachment trial

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul delivered an impassioned argument against the Senate actually holding a trial to remove Donald Trump from office. (Yeah, we know he’s already gone.) So convincing was Dr. Paul’s presentation, 90% of the Republicans in the Senate voted to support his motion to table or dismiss the action.

Quote: “Democrats are about to drag our great country down into the gutter of rancor and vitriol the likes of which has never been seen in our nation’s history… It’s almost as if they have no ability to exist except in opposition to Donald Trump.” — Paul via ZeroHedge.com

The First take:

At this point, Democrats must realize their plan to permanently stain Donald Trump with a guilty verdict in this second
senate trial is a fool’s errand. We believe party leaders are watching the polling data on this one. If public sentiment reflects what GOP senators showed yesterday, it’s likely Schumer and his cohorts will look for a procedural way to quietly end this charade. We don’t guarantee it, but we wouldn’t be surprised for a quick “motion to dismiss” on February 8th start of the trial.
