Porker of the Month: West Virginia Governor Jim Justice

Governor: Justice wins second term | Politics | wvgazettemail.com

Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) named West Virginia Governor Jim Justice (R) Porker of the Month for wanting to throw away nearly $2 trillion of the taxpayers’ money.

Shortly after being sworn in as President, Joe Biden introduced a multi-trillion spending package that he purports will address the coronavirus pandemic.  But the legislation that being considered by Congress contains hundreds of billions of dollars of wasteful spending and will make it harder for the country to economically recover from the pandemic.

In response to the bill’s release, Gov. Justice stated in a CNN interview, “if we actually throw away some money right now, so what?”  His comments are disingenuous and hypocritical.

West Virginia received $1.25 billion from the prior COVID-19 relief bills, but has yet to spend half of that money, and the governor proudly announced in January that the state is the “envy of the nation” for its great economy and $740 million budget surplus for fiscal year 2021.  For suggesting that Congress should unnecessarily throw away hundreds of billions of tax dollars, Governor Justice is the February Porker of the Month.
