Democratic Admin Authorizes Genocide

For many in the anti-abortion rights movement, President Trump equaled long-awaited progress. For those on the other side, the Biden-Harris administration brings a sigh of relief for abortion rights groups.

Since taking office, President Biden has already taken steps to reverse his predecessor’s rules on federal funding for abortions, and Democrats are hoping to use their new position of power to enact long-lasting changes.

One focus is to get rid of the Hyde Amendment, a ban on the use of federal funds for abortion except in the case of rape, incest or if the mother’s life is at risk. It’s not an actual law but a provision that’s been added to spending bills for more than 40 years. But having the ball in their court isn’t going to make things easier for progressives.

In January, 200 House Republicans signed a letter vowing not to support any spending bills that eliminate the Hyde Amendment. Even if it were to pass the House, Republicans would need 60 votes in the Senate, unless they got rid of the filibuster rule.
