Biden’s border crisis – Varvel’s Views From The Right

President Biden’s actions have signaled to people south of the border that the welcome mat is out. Catch and release is back in effect but authorities don’t have adequate resources to test these people for Covid-19. Watch this time lapse video showing how I created this cartoon.

WHAT ARE YOU LIVING FOR?

“For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” – Philippians 1:21.

What do you own that death cannot take away? Think about that for a moment. I recently vacationed in Naples, Florida. As I drove past multi-million dollar beach homes, I marveled at ornate facades surrounded by meticulously manicured lawns and trees. Then I was reminded of the bumper sticker that reads, “He who dies with the most toys, wins.” The Apostle Paul would disagree with that statement. He wrote the book of Philippians while in a Roman prison. He had lost his freedom but not his joy in the Lord. Do you know why? Because his identity was in Jesus, not in the things of this world.

A lot of people today don’t know who they are. Some think that if they changed genders they will be fulfilled (see cartoon below). Others seek fulfillment in fame, fortune, work, possessions or religion. Paul was religious but he didn’t know God. Many people are like that today. Paul thought he was helping God by eradicating a competing religion, but he was actually persecuting God. It wasn’t until Jesus blinded him on the road to Damascus, that he began to see God. And when Paul found God, he found himself. Paul was saved not from just his sin but from his self-righteousness.

A lot of people today need to be saved from their works of righteousness that are not the righteousness of God. Jesus gave Paul his new identity and his purpose which was to tell everyone about the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. When Paul knew who he was then he was able to say, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

You see, death simply ushered Paul into the eternal presence of Jesus which is where he wanted to be the most. It’s not wrong to own possessions as long as they don’t own you. But you can’t take them with you when you die. Death will take away your family, friends, time, money and possessions. The only thing death cannot take away is Jesus. But if you’re not living for Jesus, then death will make you the biggest loser.

At a Senate confirmation hearing Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) tried unsuccessfully to get Health and Human Services nominee, Dr. Levine, to denounce allowing minors to take puberty-blocking hormones or undergo surgery to remove breasts or genitalia. Watch this time lapse video showing how I created this cartoon.

Conservative cartoon purge

Cancel culture hit the comics page this week, when Gannett ordered all of its newspapers to cancel my friend, Bruce Tinsley’s Mallard Fillmore comic strip. This is an unprecedented move in that this decision was taken out of the hands of the editors of the local papers. Once again a conservative voice is purged from the mainstream media.
