Bedtime stories need not always be about dragons and wizards…….

Remember the awesome admonition Moses made in Deuteronomy 6:4-9?  He challenged the children of Israel to love God with all their heart, soul and might.  He then commanded them to teach and model their faith in God to their children.  Familiar words!

Most people do not know what follows!  Moses next expressed a concern.  The concern that they would forget God.  When they arrived in the Promised Land – the beautiful cities they did not build, the houses they did not furnish, the well they did not dig, the vineyards they did not plant – he feared that they would eat and be full and forget the Lord (verses 10-12).  He challenge them to serve God in the prosperity as they had in their adversity (verses 13ff).

Prosperity, and we live in a land of prosperity, is a real challenge to spirituality!  Be sure that you don’t forget God!  “You shall fear the Lord your God and serve Him…”  Someone expressed it this way:

Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget – lest we forget.
