And God Said Let It Be Rain… In California

Historic storms continue to batter California with torrential rainfall, hurricane-force winds, and flash flooding throughout the southern portion of the state. Storm damage can be seen here.

More than a million Californians are without power as floodwaters containing large rocks and other debris threaten both multimillion-dollar homes and homeless encampments in the Los Angeles area. Floods poured through the streets, as seen here.

The storms have produced up to 10 inches of rain in some areas and triggered landslides, mudslides, and rockslides. Evacuations have been ordered, shelters opened, and emergencies declared throughout southern California.

One resident said, “I can’t believe it. It looks like a river that’s been here for years. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
