Mayor Gist endorses gubernatorial candidate Randy Boyd

Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist announced his endorsement of Republican gubernatorial candidate Randy Boyd in the state’s race for governor.

Gist said while he tries to avoid endorsing candidates in political races, he believes Boyd is the most likely candidate to build on Gov. Bill Haslam’s work as governor.

“I developed a personal relationship when he served as Economic and Community Development commissioner under Haslam,” Gist said. “I have a strong enough tie to Randy Boyd to know he will make a good governor, and to endorse him publicly.”

Gist was one of 24 mayors from Middle and West Tennessee to announce they were endorsing Boyd on Friday. Boyd now has endorsements from 109 Tennessee mayors and 50 of 95 county mayors.

We need to say no more than that to exclude Randy Boyd from our choice of Governor.
