Student arrested at Howard High School for Gun Violation

A student was arrested for carrying a gun on school property at The Howard School on Thursday, according to a news release.

School officials were notified of a verbal altercation between students at 1:20 p.m. and that one of the students was believed to be armed, according to the news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

The students were removed from class and searched. One of the students was in possession of a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, according to the release.

The juvenile was arrested by the school’s resource officer and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

The weapon was determined to be stolen, HCSO says.

They say the student in possession of the weapon was arrested and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

HCSO says the student is charged with carrying a weapon on school property and theft of property.
