West Tennessee Healthcare completes $67M purchase of Tennova medical facilities

Government owned Health Care Now Controls it All

JS 1106 Windows 02As it appears in the Jackson Sun, West Tennessee Healthcare announced it completed the $67 million purchase of all Tennova medical facilities in the area — including hospitals in Dyersburg, Martin and Jackson.

West Tennessee Healthcare CEO James Ross said the purchase of the Tennova facilities will bring health care “unification” to the region and “this was the right thing to do.”

“It’s bringing dedicated employees and physicians, and those communities, an opportunity to work with this medical staff, this leadership team, and have that unification,” Ross said. “I call it bringing the families together. That alone improves communication, the transfer process of patient needs and this health care system is able to bring a lot of support — recruitment, retention efforts — in those facilities they may not have had in the past.”

After the transaction, West Tennessee Healthcare now has seven hospitals in its 18-county network and more than 7,000 employees. The other hospitals under West Tennessee Healthcare are Bolivar General Hospital, Camden General Hospital, Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and Milan General Hospital.
