Giving Thanks

On June 26th, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of National Institute of Family & Life Advocates in NIFLA v. Becerra.  This is a major victory for pro-life ministries nationwide.

Had even one justice gone the other way, crisis pregnancy centers, whose mission it is to give expectant mothers alternatives to abortion, would have been required to prominently post signs in their facilities displaying information on how and where these vulnerable women can obtain abortions.

Compelled speech isn’t free speech, something that was apparently lost on the four dissenting judges, who thought it more important that pro-life centers be forced to offer information blatantly contrary to their morals and ideology.

Here is a good article about the case…

The reason you likely heard nothing about this on the evening news is that it doesn’t fit the liberal, pro-abortion narrative pushed by the major networks at every opportunity.  If the outcome had been different, it would have been the lead story on all the newscasts, declaring a victory for women’s right to information regarding their personal health care decisions…as if there are women who aren’t aware of a procedure that terminates pregnancy.

Oral arguments for the case began March 20th, and many of us have been praying since then for this outcome.

Praise God.

In Christ,
