DAVIDSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: VOTE NO ON AMENDMENT 1

TOO EXPENSIVE

The COB proposes a minimum staff cost of 10 Million Dollars over the next 5 years. This comes at time when the Metropolitan Government is facing a budget crisis. The executive director is slated to earn $143,000 and the administrative assistant is budgeted for $65,000, more that a starting police officer earns.

THE BOARD IS NOT GOING TO A BE NEUTRAL AND FAIR BODY

This Board will be made of up of 11 members, 7 will be members nominated by community organizations or offered by private petitions signed by fifty Davidson County residents. Four (4) of these seven (7) members must come from “economically distressed neighborhoods.” The amendment does not define which neighborhoods those are. This opens the proposed board up to all kinds of persons with political and biased agendas that will undermine community and police dialogue.

NOTHING IN THE AMENDMENT PREVENTS AN ILLEGAL ALIEN FROM BEING ON THE BOARD.
