‘I can’t thank them enough’: Two students hailed as heroes for lunging at one of the suspected shooters in Colorado school

A senior at the Colorado school where two fellow students opened fire Tuesday, killing one and injuring eight, said she was in her British literature class when one of the shooters pulled out a gun.

The senior, Nui Giasolli, of STEM School Highlands Ranch, a K-12 school in a Denver suburb, said classmates Kendrick Castillo and Brendan Bialy lunged at the shooter and “were brave enough to bring him down so that all of us could escape and all of us could be reunited with our families. I can’t thank them enough.”

Castillo was killed.
