Russia-related sanctions

The Treasury Department, in a move likely to escalate tensions between the United States and Russia, on Thursday announced sanctions on Russian and Chechen officials linked to the deaths of two whistleblowers critical of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s government.

Five people and one entity were sanctioned by the administration for “gross violations of human rights in Russia, pursuant to the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012”
