Crypto CEO resigns after inflammatory social media posts following Trump shooting

The CEO of a prominent crypto data company is resigning after posting a series of inflammatory comments to X after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Ryan Selkis, founder and CEO of Messari, said Friday he was stepping aside after his “politics and rhetoric put the team in harms way.”

Selkis wrote on the social media platform Saturday that “anyone that votes against Trump at this point can die in a f***ing fire. Literal war.”

He added in another post that the “Civil War for the country started today, and if you are anti-Trump you are against the men who are willing to fight.”

“Bolshevism cannot be cured with votes. We must excise the metastatic cancer and evil of the left, by force if necessary,” Selkis wrote in another post on Sunday. “Do not initiate violence, but if it’s brought to your door, finish with violence.”

Selkis said he will remain in a full-time role at Messari and that Eric Turner, the company’s chief revenue officer, will take over as interim CEO.

He added that he would be “channeling all of my energies into addressing the underlying issues that have led to these systemic problems in our institutions.”
