During a press conference on Wednesday, Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy directly asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about the shifting policy positions of Vice President Kamala Harris. He questioned how her values could have remained the same when she has made significant changes to her stances on important issues.
This line of questioning was prompted by a recent interview with CNN where Harris stated, “My values have not changed” despite her shifting stance on numerous policies. However, Jean-Pierre attempted to deflect the question and instead touted Harris’ supposed accomplishments in the past three-and-a-half years as vice president.
But Doocy remained persistent, asking, “If the vice president’s values have not changed, why have so many of her positions on policies changed?” This is an important question that must be addressed, especially given the fact that Harris has flip-flopped on some of the most crucial issues facing our country.
For example, Harris has now claimed to be tough on immigration and supports the apprehension and removal of migrants who pose a national security risk. However, this is a far cry from her previous stance of supporting healthcare coverage for illegal immigrants and advocating for the abolition of ICE.
In fact, during her 2018 Senate campaign, Harris compared ICE to the Ku Klux Klan and called for its abolishment. Yet, now as vice president, she seems to have changed her tune and is advocating for stricter measures at the border.
It should also be noted that Harris was appointed by President Biden to address the root causes of the southern border crisis, yet she only made one visit to the border and allegedly never met with the former Border Patrol Chief during her time as the supposed “border czar.”
Furthermore, Harris has also flip-flopped on her stance regarding fracking, which she previously stated she would ban. However, now she claims to support the practice, causing many to question the integrity of her values.
Additionally, Harris has also shifted her stance on the Green New Deal and the defunding of the police. As a 2020 presidential candidate, Harris co-sponsored the Green New Deal and supported the defunding of the police. Yet, in recent interviews, she has denied supporting these measures.
These inconsistencies raise serious questions about Harris’ character and credibility. It is clear that she is willing to change her positions in order to align with the Biden administration and gain political favor, rather than staying true to her supposed values.
