Authorities believe the suspect in Wednesday’s deadly shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has left New York City, boarding a bus at a Manhattan terminal bound for Atlanta shortly after the incident.
Investigators confirmed the suspect arrived in New York City days earlier on a bus from Atlanta. The Atlanta Police Department said they were contacted by the NYPD and will provide assistance as needed.
Police have continued to recover evidence, including what appears to be the backpack carried by the suspected shooter, Friday evening in Central Park.
Possible DNA evidence has also been collected. Authorities have confirmed that they recovered a water bottle at the scene, along with a fake ID and a cellphone.
