Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn has been signaling a likely bid for governor, making calls and gaining support from state and federal officials.
If she runs, Blackburn would be a strong contender in the 2026 race, with the opportunity to become Tennessee’s first female governor.
Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs indicated in a post on X that he will back Blackburn as governor if she runs.
With Tennessee’s Republican majority, the GOP primary is expected to decide the next governor, as current Gov. Bill Lee (R) is term-limited.
