Don Barnett, 94, serenades his 93-year-old wife, Marilyn, every night before bed—a tradition they’ve maintained for about 50 years.
This ritual began when Don discovered that singing to Marilyn pleased her and helped them both feel calm, especially after disagreements.
Their son, Doug, noted that they never miss this nightly serenade, even continuing it when Marilyn was hospitalized after breaking her hip.
Don believes that singing to his spouse shows a deeper level of care than a simple “Goodnight, honey.”
