Zelensky Thanks Trump, Asks for More

One day after an Oval Office blowup, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked President Trump for America’s support, but he also said Trump needs to stand “more firmly” behind Ukraine.

The posted remarks on X came after Zelensky refused to sign a proposed mineral deal with the U.S. that could have helped secure a ceasefire in the war between Ukraine and Russia.

Zelensky arrived in London on Saturday ahead of a Sunday summit organized by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer with other European leaders.

French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden were among the European leaders who defended the Ukranian president. Poland’s President Andrzej Duda, however, called on Zelensky to return to the negotiating table, arguing that only the U.S. is able to stop Russian aggression.
