MUTH’S TRUTHS
(Chuck Muth) – Republicans in Carson City are upset that Democrats are refusing to hold a hearing on a bill to ban men from competing in women’s sports. Lots of anguish and wailing.
But that’s because they STILL haven’t figured out how to play political hardball.
If Democrats won’t hear their bill, GOP legislators should just hold their OWN hearing and take the matter directly to the people.
Any of them can reserve a hearing room when not being used.
Invite the press. Fights make news.
Feature testimony only from supporters of the bill. Pack the room.
If the Dems wanna tell their side, then they should hold a formal, official hearing.
As long as Democrats know they can kill Republican bills without even giving them a hearing, let alone a vote, that’s exactly what they’ll do.
Only once they learn there’ll be a public relations price to be paid will they start acting more fairly.
Republicans don’t need “official” hearings. Their best, conservative bills will never pass anyway.
What they need is stronger, more aggressive leadership and start acting like the “opposition” party rather than the “minority” party.
Or they can just keep getting steamrolled and crying about it…as they’ve done for decades.
