To the shock of many who closely follow legislation, HB 855 (caucus bill) did not have a fiscal note. Of course, questions were asked in committee regarding how forced primaries were going to somehow be free. With no cost attached, the bill passed both chambers.
Now that the bill is heading to the Governor’s desk, the bill is going to cost $8,000,000. And they got that money by digging into a $100,000,000 budget that had already been established to preserve the Duck River.
They lied to get the bill passed. Then stuck taxpayers with the bill after it was all over.
This is the kind of corruption we’ve come to expect from men like Jack Johnson and Lee Reeves, who just so happen to both have wives who are also locally elected officials in Williamson County and will be directly impacted by the passage of this bill.
