Brazilian police say they thwarted a planned bomb attack targeting Lady Gaga’s free concert at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana beach on Saturday, where more than two million fans gathered.

Authorities arrested two suspects—a man in Rio Grande do Sul and a teenager in Rio—accused of planning to use improvised explosives to gain notoriety on social media.

Police indicated the plan was orchestrated by a large extremist network, which was “virtually recruiting participants to carry out attacks” with IEDs and Molotov cocktails.

Gaga’s team said they were unaware of the threat until after the show, which went on with tight security including 5,000 officers, drones, and facial recognition tech.
