Tyranny’s roots

An entire generation of Americans has grown up since the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.

An entire generation has never known freedom from constant government surveillance.

All they know are cameras on almost every street corner, facial recognition and extreme pat-downs at the airport, and knowing the Feds are going through every text and email sent.

But those of us who are old enough do remember the national trauma inflicted on that fateful day.

The attacks formed a pretext for invasions of both Afghanistan and Iraq, even though the neocons had been preparing for a Middle East intervention before the attacks even occurred.

And just one month after the attacks, President George W. Bush signed the outrageously misnamed “PATRIOT Act,” which authorized mass surveillance of law-abiding Americans in many ways: telecommunications surveillance, financial surveillance, and much more.

To this day, the government spies on you and me under the auspices of legislation created by the PATRIOT Act.

It amended 226 sections of U.S. Code and created nine new ones.

And they tell you it’s all for your safety.

The Bush administration made its “War on Terror” its signature issue. But while vague threat of radical Islamic terrorism faded from public attention, the PATRIOT Act’s spy powers remained.

The PATRIOT Act was eventually replaced with another falsely named bill, the USA FREEDOM Act.

But now, legislation has been introduced to repeal the PATRIOT Act – and revert the law to how it stood before its passage.

It’s called the American Privacy Restoration Act – and it’s our turn to DEMAND our representatives cosponsor it.

The bill would not just repeal the PATRIOT Act, but it would revert all 235 provisions in federal law back to where they stood before the PATRIOT Act took effect.

This would be a HUGE restoration of our civil liberties and a HUGE setback for the surveillance state.

Tell your representative right now: COSPONSOR the American Privacy Restoration Act!

When the PATRIOT Act was first passed in October 2001, only three Republicans voted “no.

One of them was C4L Chairman Ron Paul.

“We must not allow the out-of-control Department of Homeland Security to impose an East-German like police state in the U.S. where neighbors are encouraged by Big Brother or Big Sister to inform on their neighbors,” Ron Paul said of the PATRIOT Act.

“We must not accept that government authorities should hector us via television screens as we go about our private lives like we are living in Orwell’s 1984.”

The PATRIOT Act is grossly unconstitutional. It granted the government far-reaching powers that have been abused to this day.

Give them a step, and they’ll take a mile.

More than twenty years later, repealing the PATRIOT Act is long overdue.

And now, we finally have legislation to do exactly that.

The Surveillance State is one of the biggest planks of big-government statism.

They want total surveillance power over you and me, and now they can use high-tech AI to put that mass surveillance data to work.

In fact, the PATRIOT Act set the stage for:

•  Full-scale government surveillance of all U.S. citizens;
•  Total control over your bank accounts and purchases;
•  The ability to silence and destroy anyone who dissents from the regime.

It’s been far too long since the American people have demanded that ALL of the extreme surveillance be shut down.

Contact your representative NOW!

Tell them the Constitution matters, and we shouldn’t be spied on by our own government!
Then, after you have, please dig deep and chip in with as generous a contribution as you can afford to help Campaign for Liberty recruit and mobilize more patriots to shut down the Surveillance State once and for all.

We’re fighting on all fronts, including a renewed push to demand Congress pass AUDIT the FED – and every bit of support makes a difference.

Without your support, we simply don’t have the resources to take the fight to the big-government statists and their deep pockets at every step they take.

But the Deep State is scrambling behind the scenes to hold onto their power.

Because too many patriots like you care.

Now is our time to strike, so please make your most generous contribution to help us do so.

Thank you for all you do,

John McCardell
Executive Director

P.S. The USA PATRIOT Act was the death knell of our right to privacy in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

But now, legislation in the House would tear it down – along with everything that came of it.
