Lyft Requests Rideshare Bill Veto

Lyft sent a letter to Gov. Jared Polis on Tuesday asking him to veto House Bill 25-1291, the Rideshare Safety Bill, joining Uber in publicly opposing the measure.

The letter says the bill “harms those it seeks to protect” and would “leave the future of Lyft’s operations in Colorado uncertain.” Last month, Uber also threatened to leave the state if the bill is signed into law.

The bill, which reached Polis’ desk last week, was sponsored by Rep. Jenny Willford (D – District 34), who alleges she was assaulted by a Lyft driver. On Tuesday, felony charges related to those allegations were filed against Mukhammadali Mukadyrov, who is accused of impersonating another driver during the alleged assault.
