MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Hours after a man was reported missing, another man confessed to shooting him in the back and dumping his body in a lake, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

On Wednesday, MPD asked the public for help finding 62-year-old RC Alexander. Reports said that Alexander was shot and left his home looking for help. Hours later, Jimmy Fullilove admitted to killing Alexander and disposing of his body, according to an arrest affidavit.

Alexander was originally reported missing from a home on South Orleans around 1 a.m. on May 14. About seven hours later, police came back to the home regarding an armed party call and detained six people. While at the home, officers said they saw a large pool of blood in the front yard and a Honda CRV with large amounts of blood in the rear cargo compartment.

MPD said Fullilove waived his rights and spoke with investigators. According to police, Fullilove said he and Alexander got into an argument, and Fullilove left to get a gun. Court records claim that Fullilove came back to the house and told Alexander to come outside. When Alexander came outside with a knife, Fullilove said, “I shot him three times in the back,” according to MPD.

After shooting Alexander, police said Fullilove put his body in the rear compartment of the Honda CRV. Fullilove said he originally planned on taking Alexander to the hospital but instead took him to MLK Park and dumped his body into McKeller Lake, according to police.

Fullilove was charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.
