‘Black Fatigue’ Takes on New Meaning in Online Discussions
(Chuck Muth) – There’s been a lot of chatter lately on social media about something called “black fatigue.” But this isn’t the same term activists have used in the past to talk about racism.
This is more about being fed up with what people – black and non-black alike – see as out-of-control crime and bad behavior, no matter who’s behind it.
They’re worn out by the same pattern of crime, violence, and protests making the headlines over and over again.
People are particularly venting their frustration about violent crime, especially when it involves young black men.
They say they’re tired of seeing the same stories play out – fights with police, violent robberies, or protests that turn into riots.
And when they speak up about it? They get called racists.
Even some black voices are speaking up, saying enough is enough.
They say the constant violence and lawlessness are giving fuel to stereotypes, and it’s making life harder for those trying to live right.
That’s a key point.
Many on the right argue that when bad behavior is excused or overlooked – whether it’s crime in the streets or riots in the name of justice – it sends the message that law and order don’t matter.
And when people get fed up with that, it’s no surprise they lose sympathy.
The answer isn’t ignoring crime but facing it head-on. Law-abiding citizens – black, white, or any color – are the ones who end up paying the price when crime runs unchecked.
People deserve safe streets, and no group should get a free pass for violence – no matter the excuse.
