Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national deported from Maryland amid a federal immigration crackdown, was indicted in federal court in Nashville for human smuggling.

Prosecutors say he led a nearly decade-long operation transporting illegal immigrants—including MS-13 gang members and children—across the U.S. for profit. Arrested after a 2022 Tennessee traffic stop, Abrego Garcia now faces charges of conspiracy and illegal transport, with an arraignment set for Friday.
