Back in the swing of things

I hope you’re having an excellent morning so far. Things out here are humming along.

After all that we have been through, it usually takes some time to find a routine. The rhythm here is a little different…more intense and focused—and more fun as well!

We decided to help our friend, Hillsdale College, with a program they started two years ago in launching the Freshman Foundation Lecture Series.

Students, at the college, during first year on campus, freshmen meet and learn about our Four Pillars—learning, character, faith, and freedom—which are a helpful summary of the mission and work of the College.

Typically, the students meet for lunch while listening to a talk about these subjects. It’s a meaningful way to introduce these young freshmen to the community and academic life here. It’s also an introduction to a life of self-government and study that will extend far beyond their time at Hillsdale College.

Our friend President, Larry P. Arnn, kicks off the lecture series with a talk on all Four Pillars.

The talk is only for freshmen, so I can’t share it with you (sadly 🙁 ), but a few years ago, Dr. Arnn gave a speech featured in Imprimis on our Four Pillars.

It’s a fascinating read and a great reminder that if we’re going to have constitutional government and protection of rights—we need learning, character, faith, and freedom.

I highly recommend you give it a look when you have time. You can easily read it here:

I hope you are excited about fall now that it’s here. As usual, I’m enjoying walks in the cool, crisp fall air. I hope that you, too, are getting into the swing of things.

Before I sign off, we here at the Press thank you again for your support of Hillsdale College. All their educational work, whether on campus or off, wouldn’t be possible without you.

Warm regards,

The Jackson Press
