Democrats have called the independent candidacy of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. a “spoiler.” Meaning, that he will take away enough votes from the top two candidates that he might help one of them win.
But it looks like RFK has a better shot at winning than Biden thinks. Kennedy explained he only needs 33% of the vote to win a three-way race. And he claimed that in some states he was already close to 33%.
While some say Kennedy is a threat to conservative Trump, it seems Biden is more scared of him. Recent polling has shaken up the Biden camp. And how Kennedy is doing among these groups could mean the end of Biden’s presidency.
From Fox News:
One former Bernie Sanders pollster, Ben Tulchin, recently sounded the alarm over Kennedy pulling so much young support from Biden. Last week, he told The New York Times he was worried about Biden’s chances of winning re-election because of Kennedy’s appeal to the demographic, as well as Latino voters.“Young voters and Latinos respond really well to a hard-edge economic populist message — and that is not Biden’s message,” Tulchin said. “They’re dissatisfied about the political and economic status quo. And I see in that mind-set the potential opening to support a third-party candidate,” he said.
According to a former Bernie Sanders pollster, Kennedy is enjoying increasing popularity among young voters and Latinos. Thanks to Biden’s many failures with the economy, voters from these groups are flocking to RFK’s “hard-edge” economic policy.
It is still a long shot that Kennedy will be sitting in the White House next January. But unprecedented factors could tip the scale in his favor. Joe Biden is the least popular president in 70 years, behind Nixon and Carter. Biden’s policies have crippled the economy, opened the border, and sent billions to wars overseas.
Meanwhile, Americans can’t even afford a cheeseburger, let alone a house.
Many liberals will flock to Kennedy simply over that. But that doesn’t factor in the major defection from Biden among progressives. Anti-Israel progressives have openly defied Biden’s pro-Israel policy. That won’t seem to change any time soon. It is possible many of these voters will back Kennedy over someone else, like Trump.
Trump is also facing major problems of his own. He is dealing with criminal trials foisted on him by Democrat prosecutors. While his supporters are opposed to these trials, moderate or swing voters might be scared off. They could flock to Kennedy, giving him another boost.
All-in-all, it appears Kennedy poses a greater threat to Biden than Trump. Which is why the Democrats are refusing to give him Secret Service protection and are staging “legal challenges” to his campaign as well as “opposition research.”
Key Takeaways:
- Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is gaining support among young voters and Latinos.
- Democrats are getting increasingly worried that he will steal votes from Joe Biden.
- Kennedy revealed he only needs 33% of the vote to win the election.
