Nashville will see changes in the landscape this month as the Ernest Newman United Methodist Church building and parsonage are removed. The property at 2001 Manchester Avenue has remained vacant since the church closed in 2017.
“Our Conference is committed to using this land as a resource for the benefit of the community and in a manner that honors the memory of Bishop Ernest Newman,” said Bishop Bill McAlilly. “While we engage in prayer and spiritual discernment about the next right thing to do, the TWK is attempting to remove the risk of harm on this property. We are holding onto hope for a future blessing yet to be revealed for this space.”
The Trustees of the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference of The United Methodist Church own the property and do not have current plans to sell the land. The buildings are in disrepair and are being removed to free the area of hazards.
