Several groups are pressuring Gov. Jared Polis to veto Senate Bill 003, which passed the Senate last Friday and seeks to ban rapid-fire conversion devices, impose new regulations on semiautomatic firearms, and mandate safety training for certain gun purchases.

Yesterday, the Colorado State Shooting Association delivered over 25,000 signatures demanding a veto of the bill. Gun rights advocates have called the measure an attack on Second Amendment rights and an undue burden on gun owners.

Republican lawmakers echoed those concerns in a letter to the Democratic governor, claiming the measure “blatantly infringes” on Second Amendment rights.

Though the bill was sent to Polis’ desk last week, he has yet to sign it into law. If enacted, it would take effect on August 1, 2026.
