Colorado Rockies Fire Bud Black After 7-33 Start

The Colorado Rockies fired manager Bud Black on Sunday after a historically bad start to the season. Bench coach Mike Redmond was also fired.

The team announced the decision a day after losing to the San Diego Padres 21-0. Even with a subsequent 9-3 victory, they sit at 7-33—one of the worst 40-game starts in MLB history.

Third base coach Warren Schaeffer will be interim manager through the 2025 season. Clint Hurdle, the current hitting coach, was named interim bench coach.“We have to get better and move forward—we owe it to our fans to play better baseball,”Bill Schmidt, the Rockies’ general manager, said Sunday.
