A crowd favorite at this year’s National Western Stock Show are the rare and captivating Valais Blacknose sheep, showcased by Nashville.Farm in Colorado.
Dubbed the “cutest sheep in the world,” these Swiss-origin sheep are adored for their friendly temperament and striking black markings on their noses, eyes, ears, knees, and feet. They were introduced to the U.S. via a costly and delicate embryo import process, with purebreds valued at up to $30,000.
Traditionally a dual-purpose breed raised for meat and wool, Valais Blacknose sheep in the U.S. have become beloved pets, nicknamed “pasture puppies.”
Visitors to the stock show can meet and pet these charming sheep—many just a few months old—and learn more about them at the Valais Blacknose Sheep Society booth. See photos of the “cutest sheep in the world.”
