D.C. NONCITIZEN VOTING

Some House Democrats could split from their leadership this week as Republicans in the lower chamber advance a bill that would block a Washington, D.C. law allowing non-citizen voting in local elections. Democratic leadership is formally pushing its members to vote against the law, setting up a dynamic that has played out repeatedly in the 118th Congress – House Republicans using their majority to try to overturn progressive D.C. laws and squeeze vulnerable Democrats in the process.
