NEWPORT, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Newport Police Department said a death investigation is underway after a body was found at an apartment complex.
NPD said the death happened at Village East Apartments in Newport.
While information is limited at this time, Chief Scott Lamb said there is nothing that leads investigators to believe foul play was involved.
The body was taken to the Regional Forensic Center for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
“I hope this eases any concerns by the public concerning the disinformation that has been spread on social media,” Lamb said.
Additional information, including the person’s identity, has not been released.
