Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Sigal Chattah’s Appointment as Interim U.S. Attorney

(Chuck Muth) – Liberal heads exploded and liberal tears gushed on Friday over news that the Trump administration had appointed Nevada Republican National Committeewoman Sigal Chattah as the interim U.S. Attorney for Nevada.

She’ll hold the position for 120 days while waiting to get confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Longtime readers know Sigal and I aren’t exactly on each other’s Christmas card list, but now’s not the time to rehash that.

Instead, let’s look at what this move potentially means for conservatives and Republicans in the state.

But first, if you’re like most people, you probably have no idea what the heck a U.S. Attorney is or does.

In short, a U.S. Attorney is a federal official within the Department of Justice (DOJ) who serves as the chief federal law enforcement officer in one of the 94 judicial districts across the United States.

They prosecute federal crimes, represent the United States in civil cases, and collect debts owed to the federal government. They’re also in charge of setting priorities based on directives from the Attorney General.

With me?

OK, while Sigal wouldn’t have been MY first pick, it’s consistent with Trump’s other picks for other positions. She’s not a “Never Trump” swamp creature who will be at odds with the president’s governing agenda.

She’s not only MAGA all the way, she’s also personally close to Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Harmeet Dhillon, the Assistant Attorney General (pending confirmation) of the Civil Rights Division at the DOJ.

HERE’S WHERE THINGS GET INTERESTING

The Civil Rights Division is tasked with enforcing federal civil rights laws. That includes addressing issues related to voting rights.

And with that in mind, consider President Trump’s recent Executive Order related to elections.

“Free, fair, and honest elections unmarred by fraud, errors, or suspicion are fundamental to maintaining our constitutional Republic. Federal laws such as the National Voter Registration Act (Public Law 103-31) and the Help America Vote Act (Public Law 107-252), require States to maintain an accurate and current Statewide list of every legally registered voter in the State.”

REQUIRE.  ACCURATE.

We’ll get back to that in a minute.

A companion “Fact Sheet” published by the White House on the EO that was published on March 25, 2025, adds…

“The Attorney General will fully enforce the voter-list maintenance requirements of the National Voter Registration Act and the Help America Vote Act.”

You see where I’m going with this, right?

Over the past year, Nevada Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar has consistently refused to work with our Pigpen Project to help clean up Nevada’s dirty voter rolls.

Actually, it’s been worse than that.

He’s aggressively erected roadblock after roadblock to obstruct efforts to remove ineligible voters from Nevada’s voter rolls.

Worse, just this week he informed us of his refusal to investigate potential voting fraud last November that we uncovered and reported to his office.

Chattah has been working on this issue as the GOP’s National Committeewoman.

Now, I don’t know if Chattah is planning to pursue this in her role as interim U.S. Attorney.  I mean, it’s not like we’re on speaking terms.

But I certainly hope she steps in.  Aguilar seriously needs to have his suspenders snapped.

Bottom line: He needs to be REQUIRED to do more than the bare minimum to clean up the voter rolls to assure they’re ACCURATE – just as the (largely unenforced) law says.

WHERE THINGS COULD GET REALLY FUN

In the Pigpen Project’s legal fights with the Secretary of State’s office, Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford has been representing Aguilar and also doing whatever he can to keep our voter rolls dirty.

Chattah lost to Ford in the 2022 race for Attorney General. And there’s probably more bad blood between them than there is between she and I.

And you can go ahead and bet the farm that A-Ron is going to be part of the Democrat attorney general cabal that’s going to sue to block Trump’s EO.

Which means Chattah will almost certainly be involved in defending the administration against Ford & Company in court.

So we could see fireworks down the road, especially if she’s confirmed for a full 4-year term.

In any event, the expected outrage over the appointment from the libtards came fast and furious.

EXPLODING MUSH HEADS

“Sigal Chattah is an extremist with a record of violent rhetoric who is deeply unfit for this role,” wrote Democrat U.S. Sen. Jacky Rosen on X.

When it comes to “deeply unfit for this role,” Senator, look in the mirror.

Liberal blogger and fake news peddler Jon Ralston – who hates Chattah with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns – had a veritable conniption.

“I can’t think of a worse person for this job,” he scribbled on X.  “I wish this were an April Fool’s joke.”

He went on to call Chattah and Patel “fiery partisans” and complained that “she has attacked me and @TheNVIndy (“smut rag”) for reporting on her lunacy.”

Yes, the thin-skinned Jonny Jihad can dish it out, but he certainly can’t take it.

“Sigal Chattah is grossly unfit to serve as Nevada’s US Attorney,” Nevada State Democrat Party Chairmember Daniele Monroe-Moreno said in a statement.

“This is the same person who said that Nevada’s first black Attorney General should ‘hang from a f-ing crane’,” she continued.  “That, her significant ties to January 6th rioters, and much more disqualify her from being anywhere near the United States Justice Department.”

Oh, puh-lease.

First, let’s again dispatch this “hanging from a crane” crap.

It’s a true quote from a text message that was leaked by a leftwing trans-activist. But the context had NOTHING to do with Ford being black.  Nor did it have anything to do with lynchings.

I debunked this attack on Chattah when it first came up, well before she and I had our falling out. But it’s as true today as when I wrote it in January 2022.

If you missed the column, click here.

Secondly, voters couldn’t care less about January 6 any longer – if they ever did.

After all, Trump was re-elected in November in a landslide even though the Dems hit him on J6 every 14.3 seconds during the campaign.

It didn’t resonate.  It didn’t work.

But yeah, Chairmember, keep beating that dead horse.

THE CHUTZPAH AWARD GOES TO…

Then there was Democrat U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto.

Harry Reid’s apprentice said that Chattah “is an election denier who has advocated for political violence, suggested she would target her political enemies, and offered full support to many of President Trump’s blatantly illegal actions in office.”

First, it’s only her OPINION that any of Trump’s executive orders are “blatantly illegal.”

Some appeals courts have already affirmed that some of his moves are NOT illegal, and this issue won’t be settled one way or the other until the Supreme Court weighs in.

Secondly, when it comes to “political violence,” her party has a lock on that.

Remember the “summer riots” in 2020 where the Black Lies Matter and Antifa domestic terrorists were burning down buildings and assaulting/killing people?

And what about the epidemic of threats against Elon Musk and vandalism of his Tesla dealerships and individual Tesla cars in parking lots?

People in glass houses, Senator. People in glass houses.

But her greatest level of hypocrisy was in taking that shot at Chattah for possibly targeting her “political enemies” sometime down the road.

Hearken back, dear reader, to 2008 when then-Nevada Attorney General Masto initiated an indictment against former Republican State Treasurer Brian Krolicki.

No money was alleged to have been stolen or misused for personal gain, but the alleged mishandling of funds led to four trumped-up felony charges against Krolicki.

Krolicki maintained his innocence, calling the indictment a political attack – which it was.

He had been considering a 2010 U.S. Senate run against then-Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a close political ally of Cortez Masto.

Critics, including Krolicki, suggested that Cortez Masto was pursuing the case as a partisan move to derail his political ambitions, possibly at Reid’s behest.

In December 2009, a Clark County District Court judge dismissed the charges, ruling that prosecutors failed to present sufficient evidence of criminal intent or a clear violation rising to the level of felony charges.

For Krolicki, the dismissal cleared his name legally. But targeting and sliming him as a perceived “political enemy” stalled his momentum and he ended up not running against Reid.

So it worked.

But the dismissal was also a serious embarrassment to Cortez Masto, with even the liberal Las Vegas Sun noting that it left her open to accusations of politicizing her office and prosecutorial misconduct.

So, Saint Catherine, maybe you should just sit this one out, OK?

SIDE BENEFITS

Most of my problems with Sigal in the past were related to her position as the Nevada GOP’s National Committeewoman. Won’t belabor them. But here’s the thing…

Democrats, and some Republicans, have opposed some of President Trump’s appointments.

But I’ve argued that Trump won – and won a mandate – so he should pretty much be allowed to “hire” whoever he wants.

That includes Sigal Chattah.

And while she wouldn’t have been MY first choice (I would have preferred retiring Assistant District Attorney and former Clark County GOP Chairman Bernie Zadrowski), I’m not President of the United States.

So I’m going to stay consistent, not oppose the appointment, and hope the White House and DOJ can keep her focused and under control.

That said, there’s a silver lining…

Because of the appointment, I’m told Sigal has resigned from her party leadership position. In my eyes, that’s a good thing.

The committeewoman’s job is to raise money, not raise hell – unless you’re raising hell for the purpose of raising money.

So maybe now the GOP’s Central Committee will elect someone for the position with demonstrable fundraising prowess – like Pauline Lee, the current president of the Nevada Republican Club, or former Nevada GOP Chair Sue Lowden, who is a longtime friend of current Chairman Michael McDonald.

That would be a decided step in the *right* direction.

CONCLUSION

While Chattah’s appointment is set, her full Senate confirmation isn’t a sure thing.

Cortez Masto and Rosen have their knickers in a knot over her nomination. They’re whining that Trump bypassed “tradition” by not consulting with them before making the announcement.

Gee, after each voted to impeach Trump twice, I can’t imagine why he would blow off “tradition” and not give two schlitts what they think.

In any event, both have vowed to block her confirmation.

Stay tuned, Batfans.
