Burbank, CA banned To Kill a Mockingbird, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and Of Mice and Men. The school district claimed the books were racist. Yesterday, Joe Biden attacked Republicans for banning books. Biden won Burbank, CA. Biden attacked Republicans for removing explicit gay pornography from elementary school libraries, but you would not know that from how the press has covered the issue.
Harvard actively discriminated against Asian students in favor of less qualified black students. White progressives screamed “racism” at the Supreme Court for ending that racism.
The left has screamed “racism” for so long that many people ignore it now.
So the left is pivoting to “fascism.” Everything they do not like is fascist. The Israeli government is fascist because the democratically elected Knesset doesn’t think the Israeli Supreme Court should be able to appoint its own members and block legislation democratically passed.
Ron DeSantis is a fascist for getting laws passed through a democratically elected legislature. Brian Kemp is a fascist for expanding voting access in Georgia in ways the left opposed. Glenn Yougkin is a fascist for taking on school districts that shut kids out of schools. Donald Trump is a fascist for breathing.
Everyone on the right is fascist. If you loudly criticize Donald Trump, but you refuse to bow to the left’s agenda, you’re a fascist. The media talking heads echo and further dilute the word.
It’s similar to how everything is a carcinogen these days. Aloe vera and aspartame and lead pipes and tailpipes and oxygen and sunshine and coffee and the list goes on — you’re going to get cancer from it all, maybe possibly, we aren’t sure, but we better label it anyway because California says so.
Meanwhile, don’t look now, but the left wants to drive up the costs of the poor to get a stove and a water heater and an air conditioner. But leave their private planes alone. Your kids can be secretly transitioned and taken away from you if you object. But don’t call that fascism. That’s the left fighting for rights.
Post-modernism believes everything is about power. Words shape reality. One must silence “dominant discourses” and change the meaning of words to alter reality and restructure power. We are seeing that. Everything is racism except the left’s racism. Everything is fascist except the left’s fascism.
All this means the GOP must get 2024 right. Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, and, for that matter, Donald Trump, are not getting any younger.
