Total eclipse reaction: The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. – Psalm 19:1
In Ezekiel 36-37, God said He would regather the Jews from the nations in which they have been exiled, and give them the land that God promised to give them. After Jerusalem and the Jewish Temple were destroyed in 70 AD, the Jewish people were scattered. But since Israel became a nation on May 14, 1948 there are 9 million Jews living in Israel today, partially fulfilling Ezekiel’s prophecy.
We see in Ezekiel 38-39 that Israel will be attacked and no nation will come to its aid. One of the nations listed is in the attack is Persia (modern-day Iran).
Iran’s current proxy war against Israel, using Hezbollah, Hama and the Houthis is not the Ezekiel 38-39 war. But it looks like it may be escalating toward that battle.
Last week, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was assassinated by Israel in Damascus, Syria. Some of Iran’s octopus appendages have been cut but this is just the beginning. Iran promised to retaliate for the attack.
Surely the U.S. won’t abandon our friend Israel when it is outnumbered?
Apparently I was wrong. “According to Friday’s Review-Journal, “President Joe Biden issued a stark warning to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday that future U.S. support for Israel’s war in Gaza depends on the implementation of new steps to protect civilians and aid workers.”
Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu is facing tens of thousands of Israelis who have rallied against him, demanding a Gaza hostage deal. Meanwhile, Hamas has, in an unsurprising development for the barbaric terrorists, rejected another ceasefire proposal.”
Despite the bad news, which the Bible says will get much worse, there is hope. Eventually, when it looks hopeless for the tiny nation of Israel, God will come to their rescue::
“Then they will know that I am the Lord their God because I made them go into exile among the nations, and then gathered them again to their own land; and I will leave none of them there any longer. I will not hide My face from them any longer, for I will have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,” declares the Lord God. ~Ezekiel 39:28-29
ARCHIVE CARTOON: I drew this cartoon in 2017.
The total solar eclipse of 2024 was truly the glory of God in the heavens.
The Varvels are blessed to live in Indiana. Our home was in the path of the total eclipse yesterday and I’ve got to tell you, it was more amazing than I imagined. Although I’ve seen some great photos of the corona, they can’t capture what the human eye can see. For instance, photos make the sky look black but it wasn’t black to the naked eye. The sky was a deep blue during the eclipse. We could even see the red corona at the bottom of the moon caused by hydrogen at high temperatures on the sun’s surface.
This event made me want to tip my hat to my atheist friends. I have to admit that you have more faith than I do. Seriously, I don’t have enough faith to believe that out of nothing, an infinite number of miracles randomly occurred with no guidance or intelligent design and created objects like the sun, moon, stars, and the Earth and placed them in perfect orbits traveling through space with such precision that you can accurately predict their locations hundreds of years from now. Oh, and then created all life on earth including humans with complex eyes capable of seeing it all. I just don’t have enough faith to believe it just happened on its own.

A new Gallup poll reveals that 55 percent of Americans now disapprove of Israel’s military action in Gaza. Only 36 percent approve.
This rejection of Israel is more than an ideological disagreement. It is an irrational response that is demonically inspired.
