Gary Varvel: Chuck Schumer’s back pain

BACKSTABBERS

Democrats turned on Sen. Chuck Schumer after he voted with the Republicans to keep the government open. Now they are calling for new leadership — someone like AOC.

To paraphrase a famous quote: “Never interrupt your opponent when he is in the process of destroying himself.”

So how bad is it going for the Democrats right now? This chart says it all.

Only 29% of voters have a favorable view of Democrats.

DEVOTIONAL

The verse for today: “I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake. I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men because you have overcome the wicked one.…” – 1 John 2:12-13.

Every person goes through 3 stages of eating: Someone feeds us, then we feed ourselves and finally we feed ourselves and others. This verse mentions the 3 different stages of spiritual growth: children, young men and fathers.

  • First, by faith, a new Christian knows that his sins are forgiven.
  • Second, by faith, young men have overcome the wicked one.
  • And finally, by faith, fathers, or mature Christians, know God.

How do mature fathers know God? By knowing the Bible. When we first become a Christian, we are spiritual babies who need someone to teach us the word of God which is our spiritual food.

Like the 3 stages of eating, we should mature and start feeding ourselves by reading and study the Bible on our own. Then, as a mature growing Christian, we should grow in our knowledge of God and have some spiritual children that we are discipling by teaching them the word of God.

Sadly, some Christians today aren’t maturing. Oh, they might be saved, but they aren’t feeding themselves on the word of God. They’re aren’t as interested in the Bible as they are in what this world has to offer. Still others feed themselves, but they keep it to themselves and aren’t sharing what they’ve learned with others.

So which are you in this spiritual growth chart?

RIGHT VIEWS

Townhall – Alan Joseph Bauer: The Party of No and I hope that the American people continue to say no to them as long as they remain as such.

The Federalist – John Daniel Davidson: America becoming less Christian is a problem for everyone.

Victor Davis Hanson: The U.S. faces mounting trade deficits, immigration crises, and endless foreign wars, while critics of Trump’s policies offer no viable alternatives to Biden-era failures.
