Gary Varvel: Kamala’s joyful closing argument

viral video captured a crazed woman shouting in the face of a child in a stroller outside of a Kamala Harris rally in Houston. It’s reminiscent of Harris’ closing argument which seems to be focused NOT on her record or policies but on calling Donald Trump, Hitler. The campaign of “Joy” looks crazy to me.

Are you as sick of seeing the same political ads as I am? The repetition is really annoying. I have worn out the mute button on my remote.

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty are both elite athletes who faced off in the World Series. And both are adopted. They are alive to experience this crowning moment in Major League Baseball thanks to their birth mothers who gave them life and gave him up for adoption.

Just think of all of the people who would have lost out if Judge and Flaherty had been killed in the womb. They’re wives, their adoptive families, their friends, their teammates, the Yankee and Dodger fans all have been blessed by these men. No man is an island. Every life impacts those around us. Every life was created by God for a purpose.

There is one presidential candidate keeps repeating the “My body, my choice,” lie. Let those with eyes to see and ears to hear understand that just as the car in my garage is NOT part of my house, the baby in the womb is NOT the mother’s body.

Jesus said in John 10:10a, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.”

Abortion steals God’s gift from parents, abortion kills babies, and abortion destroys families both in the present and in the future.

Any parent who says that they want their daughter to have the right to choose is actually okaying the murder of their grandchildren.

Jesus said in John 10:10b, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

A full life is what Jesus offers to those who trust in Him. He said that we are more valuable than the birds of the air and since He takes care of them, He’ll take care of you and me too. (Matthew 6:26)

A PRAYER FOR AMERICA

Our merciful heavenly Father, I confess my sins and the sins of my nation which are many. We are guilty of the same sins that are listed in Psalm 106:38:

“They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood.

I know that our land has been desecrated by the innocent blood of over 63 million babies in the last 51 years.

Because of this, You said You were angry with your people and abhorred Your inheritance. In Your anger, You gave them over to their enemies. (v. 40)

I’m concerned that our nation’s enemies are within our borders. That is why I’m asking for another chance to repent and change our course as a nation. But I know that we can’t do it on our own. That’s why I’m pleading for You to save us, Lord our God. Just as Abraham pleaded with You to delay Your judgment of Sodom if there were 50 righteous people living there, so I am pleading with You to spare our nation today.

As we face this upcoming election, we need a change of heart so that we will do Your will instead of our own. Guide the hearts and minds of Your followers to be “salt” and “light” across our land. Help us to lean not on our own understanding but to trust in You. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

My trust is not in politicians and human government. My trust is only in You. So I pray for a miracle that You would turn our hearts back to You, oh God.

Lord, You said in Lamentations 3:22-23, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”

Thank You for Your great love and compassion and patience.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
