Hamas killed three Israeli soldiers Sunday in an attack on a crossing into Gaza used by trucks delivering humanitarian aid. The crossing is now shut down.
At the same time, Hamas announced it was ending ceasefire negotiations in Cairo after Israel rejected its demands to end the war. Israeli officials warned of a substantial military operation in the “very near future” into Rafah, Hamas’ last major stronghold in Gaza.
Israel also raided a Jerusalem hotel room used by Al Jazeera after the government decided to shut down the Qatari-owned media outlet’s local operations in Israel. The Israelis said the network would remain closed until the war in Gaza ended.
