Hamas walked away from ceasefire talks on Sunday, announcing it would not attend Thursday’s final round of negotiations.
The Palestinian terror group cited the recent killing of its political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, and airstrikes in Gaza for pulling out.
French, German, and British officials released a joint statement Monday, urging Hamas to return to the table and meet with mediators. The group also called on Iran to refrain from retaliatory attacks that would escalate regional tensions.
Monday’s statement arrived as the U.S. ordered a guided missile submarine and a carrier strike group to the Middle East.
