Hunter Biden’s daughter Naomi Biden was called by the defense to testify during her father’s federal gun trial today. During her testimony, she said she visited her father in California in August 2018, stating, “I hadn’t seen my dad in a long time, and I knew he was in a rehab facility there. He reached out.” She also indicated she was aware her father was a drug addict, saying, “I knew that he was struggling with addiction.”
Hunter Biden purchased a Colt Cobra .38 Special revolver in October 2018 in Delaware, after his rehab treatment in California. President Joe Biden stated in an interview with ABC News anchor David Muir that he would not pardon his son should Hunter be convicted.
On June 5, during the ongoing trial in Delaware, House Republicans sent criminal referrals to the Department of Justice alleging that Hunter lied to Congress during President Biden’s impeachment inquiry, and recommended he be charged with making false statements to Congress.
According to Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio):
Lying to Congress is a serious crime with serious consequences. Both Hunter and James Biden did just that. They lied to coverup [sic] President Biden’s involvement in their family’s international influence peddling schemes that have generated millions of dollars. These criminal referrals are a reflection of criminal wrongdoing by the Biden family, and the Department of Justice must take steps to hold the Bidens accountable.
The DOJ has prosecuted two advisors to former President Donald Trump — Peter Navarro, and Steve Bannon — for contempt of Congress. Navarro reported to federal prison on March 19, and Bannon is ordered to report to federal prison on July 1.
